From january onwards all tier 2 applicants require to obtain the biometric in order to apply. how about the people already done when they apply for a student visas in India. do they need to do again when they apply for Tier 2?

Yes, I do believe so, this is to check you are the same person that applied for the student visa

thanks joh118. do we apply first and then the UKBA instruct us to do the biometric? how does it work?

the ukba will not even think about considering your application untill you have given your biometrics.
After you apply, they will send you a letter telling you that you need to give your bio.
you can go to one of their PEO offices or i do believe you can now go to some post offices and pay an extra Â£8. I am not so sure on the finer details so check.
