Tier2 extensions

Post by aarnags » Fri Jan 20, 2012 10:31 pm

Hi,

I have some doubt with Tier2 extensions.
Old Visa period 12Feb2009 to 13Feb2012
Came to UK on 13Mar2009

I got another contract for 3 years and I read that homeoffice can give visa only for two years and company can only apply for two year COS, Is this correct ?

If it is only two years extension then I will not be able to complete 5 years for settlement and need to apply again extensions :(

What are the documents need to submit with applications.

Please help, I have to submit my application by next week.

Thank you very much..

Hi,
According to UKBA policy the first leave under Tier 2 Visa should be maximum 3 years however employer may offer you with CoS for less than 3 years. As you have mentioned earlier that you have enjoyed your first leave for 3 years ending this February. Now you require a CoS for 2 years to complete 5 years under tier 2 regardless of what your employer is offering i.e 3 years job extention. But the UKBA has their own reservations to offer maximum 2 years leave into extension application.

Now if your employer even create a CoS for 3 years the UKBA will ultimately extend your leave for 2 years and this is exactly what happend in my case. But this board helped me alot to make things understandable.

All the best,
R Solungi
