Time to apply after last day of classes.

Post by billychuck » Tue Oct 04, 2011 10:47 am

Hello,

I finished my course this Summer; my last exam was on the 26th of May, Graduation on 18th of July, Date of award August 1st. From September 5th to October 1st, my sponsorship was changed from my University to a Highly Trusted TEFL training school where I took a month long qualification.

I would like to apply this week, but I spoke to a woman at UKBA who said that they usually give a four-month grace period to apply for leave to stay (from withing the UK) after the last day that you actually go into Uni. For me, if my exam date is the last day, this mark would have been the 26th of September.

So should I not apply now?

Thanks.

What is the expiry date of your current Tier 4 (General) leave?

Students are usually given an additional maximum of four months leave to remain following the end of their course (final exam or final submission etc) this does not mean that you have to apply for psw within four months if, as in your case you extended your leave to complete another course.

If you want to apply in country then you can do so-and on or before the day your leave expires to avoid becoming an overstayer.
