timeframe of getting a certificate of sponsorship for compan

Hello,

I've got a quick question .. well two really.
My employer just applied to get the sponsorship certificate for the first time a week ago or two maximum. Two days ago, they asked me for my personal information as in; DOB, full name .. etc saying they were asked for these information by UKBA and now writing why me specifically would be the best for this job to them.

My questions are; Does this mean they've got the certificate already and now they're trying to get me into the system and get a reference number? Or am I being too ambitious and it will take way longer than that? How long does this usually take?

Are you applying from within UK or outside Uk?

It's irrelevant at the moment but I will be applying outside of the UK. The main question is how long does it take to obtain the license for the company and if they are asked for information about the employee, does it mean that they've already gotten the license and trying to get the code now? or is it irrelevant?

I think best to check with the company. UK home office is known to do additional enquiries before as well as after granting the licence + granting the CoS. So, we cannot go with an assumption here!
