TOEFL validity for Naturalisation application

Post by claire1 » Tue May 13, 2014 12:36 pm

I'm planning to apply for UK naturalisation application on 1st August 2014, as my qualifying 12 months on ILR complete then. I have been in UK since September 2003 to July 2007 (Student visa), July 2007 to July 2013 (work permit) and 30 July 2013 to 1st August 2014 on ILR.

For English language assessment, I have the Life in the UK test pass letter dated 9th September 2012. As it was before 28th October 2013, I need a separate English language assessment.

For this, I can either show a TOEFL CBT score sheet certification which I had taken in March 2003 and I have scored 82/90. The score is above the equivalent level of B1 CEFR required level. But because it was taken in March 2003 in India, is it going to be valid?

From memory, I do believe I used this whilst applying for student visa in India to come to the UK in 2003 to study ACCA. It somewhere states in Appendix KOLL and Appendix O of Home Office that the English language assessment certification does not have an expiry for settlement applications provided it should have been gained in UK or if outside UK, then should have been used for UK immigration clearance. - Is it ok to use this TOEFL score sheet in this case?

Also, I have done ACCA qualification from UK and it says on ACCA website that UK NARIC recognises it to be equivalent to UK Master's Degree, but as its a professional qualification and not academic I believe I cannot use this. Also, I have a BBA degree from M.S. University Baroda, the transcript of which confirms that the medium of instruction of this University is English. I have checked on PBS calculator page and both these qualification do not earn me 10 points for English Language Requirement.

My options are hence - If the TOEFL is not valid, I must get UK NARIC ELA done for this BBA degree or take a new ESOL test.

Can you please advise me on this query urgently?

Thanks
