Took time off to travel, do I qualify as self sufficient

Post by Clarissa_M_ » Thu Aug 20, 2015 9:00 am

Hello,

thank you for giving some time.

I am EEA national, residing in UK since Sept 2006. In September 2011 I left the country to travel ans came back permanently in March 2012, but I stayed in London 4 days in February. I didn't have a job and I wasn't claiming any benefits for the whole period: do I qualify as self sufficient if I wasn't in the country? Do I need a CSI for the period I was travelling or for when I stayed here for 4 days?

Thanks.

You do not need to exercise treaty rights when you are not in the UK because you are free from immigration restrictions (but f you stayed abroad for > 6 months you'd break your residency).
You may want to check if you have already acquired PR by living here from 09/2006 - 09/2011 as any 5 continuous year period can be used to acquire PR.
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Hello, thank you for your reply. I wasn't away for 6 months solid: I left of 24th August, came back on 27th Sept, left again on the 28th. I came back again on 31/01 for 7 days and then back on 28/02. The total of days away is less than 180. Do you think this might be a problem?
