Settlement / Spouse Visa Timeline EGYPT

Post by Tee1 » Fri Jun 29, 2012 12:23 pm

I'd like to get an idea of the realistic processing time in Egypt.

For all those that have applied in Egypt for a spouse visa

Please post the following:

- Date Of Application arriving at the visa section
- Date of Decision

Many thanks.

We applied in Alexandria 22/5/12, heard nothing to date but don't expect to until the end of August.

From UKBA website-
28 June 2012 - Visa applications from Egypt

Due to essential improvements to the embassy building we are currently experiencing delays in processing visa applications.

We are working hard to complete the necessary work and will do our utmost to return to full capacity as soon as possible. We advise all visa applicants to apply well in advance of their date of travel so that any delays will not impact on their travel plans.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will advise you of any updates through this website.

hi we applied from alex too, refused for stupid reasons that i was living in egypt not present and settled in uk with a job, but it states in application that i can be travelling with him back to england, and also that my husband did not have a job in england !!!! how can he apply for jobs when he doesnt even have permission to be in the country no employer will offer someone work who has no visa or work permit..... so we lodged appeal 1st of march and was given a deadline of august its too long :(...sick of this nightmare now

Thanks for your posts.

Its been 2 months since my husband submitted his application and no news.

THe ukba update on their website does not help either as they just state delays and don't advise people on how long the delays will last and the fact that it is due to 'building improvements' just makes it more frustrating.

They also have not updated their visa processing times since april which is worrying.

We submitted the application in April and from what I'd read it would around 3 months to process. However, at the end of May my husband had to retrieve his passport from the embassy due to unexpected business travel. We fully expected this to delay the processing, but to our surprise we heard from them a month earlier than anticipated! :o

Here is our timeline:

Completed online application form/paid fee ~ 10th April 2012
Biometrics Appointment ~ 17th April 2012
On way to visa section ~ 17th April 2012
Arrived at visa section ~ 18th April 2012
Ready for collection ~ 18th June 2012
Visa stamped ~ 17th June 2012

It's worth noting that when my husband got notice that his documents were ready for collection (via sms) it didn't state whether the application has been successful, so for the sake of your sanity don't celebrate until you have seen the passport

Good luck to all those with applications pending, insha'Allah you will receive good news soon!

Has anyone read this on ukba website

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... ofchanges/

2. In paragraph 6, for the definition of ‘adequate’ and ‘adequately’ substitute:
“’adequate’ and ‘adequately’ in relation to a maintenance and accommodation requirement shall mean that, after income tax and housing costs have been deducted, there must be available to the family the level of income that would be available to them if the family was in receipt of income support.”.

What does this mean to us?

I believe these rules apply to those who apply after 9th July 2012.

Applications before 9th July will be reviewed according to the rules prior to the change.
