Can ccj and poor credit affect British citizenship application?

i don't think so it should matter to get British nationality or in order to get a visa.. its a civil matter not the criminal offence

Who told you that civil matters make no difference?

Insolvency is a civil matter, but will result in refusal of naturalisation. People who have habit of defaulting on debt may get a refusal. I just gave you quick examples. There are many scenarios when civil matters can have serious impact.

if you read the UKBA guide, it says that one of the factors determining if you are of a good character (which is a requisite) is that you shouldn't be bankrupt etc, although if you are, each case is taken individually and if the details show that you were particularly dishonest and appropriated a large sum and defaulted etc, the more serious the claim that you are not of good character, can't pay back what you borrow. It CAN be a factor but depends on the case.

it might effect if its been done on the big scale (money laundering etc) but i would say provided the gentleman not been in receipt of public funds.i.e benefits,and have not been convicted of a criminal offence then there should be no problem. County court judgement and bad credit are not criminal offences.
