Were you employed in the UK during this time? Or was this absence due to personal reasons?

If you have money to spare, you may do so.
Without any economic ties with the UK during this long absence, I don't see how a caseworker will be able to use discretion and approve a settlement application.

Congrats vsinghwalia.

I think the new rules helped you get the ILR. Which PEO did you apply in ?
I'm just trying to help !

Well if you want to rely on added discretion of the caseworker you can all apply together. However, it may be wise for you and the children to apply together then your wife after your ceremony.

Hi vsinghwalia,
When you submitted your ILR application.. did you provide any clarification for your long absence of 179 days OR were you asked anything by the Case worker on your long absence ??
Please advise.. I have a similar case having 170 days out of UK in 1 Year..
It will give me an idea how to go about my long absence...
Many Thanks

I and my wife passed the life in the uk test before apply for ilr (which exempted at that time case worker told me )that time.
If we apply naturalization,is the compulsory for us to pass both life in the UK and B1CEFR.
