processing time for family based immigration

Dear Kayalami,

Can you tell me what is the processing time for the family based immigraiton for the family fourth preference,
I would be thankful for your reply.

It depends on the person's country of birth. It can be 10, or 20 years.

The person's country of birth is "PAKISTAN"

Current waiting time seems to be about 11-12 years. Looking at the Visa Bulletin for February 2006 (here) it seems that in February this year fourth preference applications filed in August 94 were still being processed. For applicants born in India, Mexico, and the Philippines, processing times were longer. Of course this is only a current snapshot, it doesn't tell us too much about future processing times.

Thanks for your reply, one more question what is the rate of success even waiting for 15 years will it come in positive or there are chances that they may REJECT.

There is always a possibility of rejection until the last moment. Even a valid immigrant visa stamped doesn't guarantee you will be admitted (and for that matter, neither does a green card). I'm afraid I don't know about the general chances of success for 4th preference applications.

As per Marco's comments you are not home dry until the immigrant visa is issued. Rejections are usually due to misrepresentation e.g. your date of birth or line of parentage is false or otherwise on grounds of inadmissibility e.g. you get a criminal record, serious medical condition, become a security concern etc.
