Process for Schengen Visa

Post by zen63 » Wed Nov 29, 2006 1:37 pm

Hi,

My wife (Russian) has just received her residence permit in Ireland as the spouse of an EU citizen (British).

We are looking to do quite a bit of travelling over the next year (the six months trapped in Ireland while her permit arrived took their toll). Can anyone tell me the quickest and easiest way to get a multi entry Schengen visa?

Which country is best to deal with?
What are the waiting times?
How does the process work?

Thanks,

Zen63

From other posts it sounds like France/Spain are the easiest bets. Germany definitely isnt. My husband (him Indonesian, me Irish) applied for a multiple entry visa to the DUB Germany Embassy and was issued with a single-entry visa for the duration of his stay (4 days). Processing time was exactly 2 weeks. Application in person at the Dublin Embassy was required :(

Let me know if you find out as we are in the same situation. After spending a year trying to get his Irish Residency Permit, its a pain in the **** getting into the same situation with other countries :(

If you are applying for a Shengan Visa under the spouse category did you send:

* Bank statements
* Payslips
* Travel Insurance
* Letter from employers
* Invitation letter

The form seems to indicate this is for non dependant applicants?

So when you applied for your Shengan visa you just excluded these documents?

The embassy I assume said nothing?

The requirements for spouses of EU Nationals are different than for other non-EU nationals. e.g. for DE Visa
non-EU Spouses of EU citizens: http://www.dublin.diplo.de/Vertretung/d ... =Daten.pdf
non-EU Nationals: http://www.dublin.diplo.de/Vertretung/d ... =Daten.pdf

For our application to the German embassy, we had to send in
  • 1) the completd Schengen visa application form (did not answer any questions that were asterixed),
    2) original EU passport (+copy)
    3) original applicants passport (+copy)
    4) original GNIB card (+copy)
    5) irish re-entry visa (+copy)
    6) proof of address (tenancy agreement) (+copy)
    7) confirmed return flight ticket (+copy)
    8 letter of invitation from friends that had been certified by a DE Notary (+copy)
    9) marriage certificate (+copy)

Johnsienk - have you applied successfully for a schengan with the reduced set of documents?

How do you deal with the embassies insistance that more is required.

Do you have to send the fullset on the condition that you will NOT be travelling with your wife?
