Surrendering expired Indian Passport

Hi ,

Me and my wife are currently on ILR and are eligible to apply for naturalization on 31st Jan 2013. My wife's passport expired on the 20th of December 2012. Two questions that I need to ask.

1. Would she be able to apply for naturalization on an expired Indian passport?
2. Once she has got Naturalization, will VFS accept an expired Indian passport to surrender??
