Notary around London charges less for notarising passport ?

Post by IrfanAliAnsari » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:37 pm

Hi All,

I have called up many notaries around London and they all are asking GBP 55+ to notarise the personal page of passport.

Does any one know any Notary around london who charges lesser than that (Went through the messages posted on this forum and some one has
mentioned that he paid 5 GBP per page, but doesn't mention the name of the Notary)

Wish you all very happy and prosperous new year and success in getting HSMP.

Thanks & Regards,
Irfan

This is very useful information, if the people who said that (£5) provide us name and address of the Notary.

Because at some point poeple might need this information. I understand it is normarly cost more than that, so if we have cheaper option why do not we use this service.

IrfanAliAnsar, Could you also provide us Link to original post.

Thank you

Apparently he has got this certified in Guildford, but doen't remember the name of the Notary. It would be good to know anyone near to London. Following is the link for the same.

Is solicitor also, authorized to do this job ?

I called up one solicitor and receptionist said that they will charge £5 for each paper and in case of an Indian passport, we need to get three pages to be verified.

Here is the solicitor's address and now they will open in new year.

5 pounds is JUST for 'certified', which is less formal and not useful for HSMP. only very few people can provide notary service among those who can provide certified service. i have done once which was 65 pounds for notary. 5 pounds for certified copy, but i had called HO and they said only notary copy is acceptable for hsmp application.

I know one notary in Central london near Noitting Hill Gate. Takes only £10 per page.

Will share address and contact details on Tuesday as it's on my office mailbox.

Also I know one agency who takes £20 for Translaion for per page(I have asked for my birth certificate - Hindi to English)

Hi,

Once the translation is done:

1. I called up http://www.globaltranslators.co.uk and learned that he does the translations on very competitive rates but he was not sure if their translation is valid for HSMP or not; hence asking me to get in touch with solicitors.
2. Do i need to get this translation (done by a translator in UK) NOTARIZED from solicitors?

Please response asap.

Thanks

Chetan,

I think it's must to notarised translated docs as per guidance doc.

I have birth certificate in Hindi so We both are in same boat.

Also I know one agency for notary but they denied to notarised translated docs as they don't have any Solocitor who know's Indian regional languages even though docs are translated in english.

So first we have to find Solicitor who can do notary for translated docs.

Let me know if you find someone.

If you guys just want this to prove your date of birth then get personal page of passport certified by notary as you have alternative documents and in this case you don't need to go through the translation and all.

Dear Friend,

I spoke to HSMP team and learned that providing alternative documents is not enough as you should provide compelling reasons as why you cannot provide the original document.

If case worker is not satisfied by yout reason he can still reject the alterntive document you are providing.

Experienced members please correct if I am wrong.

Hope this would help.

Thanks

Chetan,

I learned the same.
One need to give VERY SOLID REASON, in order to pass-off any alternative document and receive the points, and most people

Hi all,

I also got my personal details page certified by a notary public in Wimbledon for £20.

Michael Ward - Notary Public
0208 946 1173

It is also useful to contact your embassy in the UK, as most provide notary services for citizens. The Australian Embassy will do it also for £20 for citizens.
