RC paper

Post by ymj » Thu Mar 07, 2013 10:43 am

Hello, I have very simple question.

I received my RC recently. As my passport was with me then, they sent me my RC on an A-4 paper. I just wonder how do I deal with this?

Shalli try to put it on my passport or I will always carry it with me when I travel? It is absolutely very inconvenient.

EEA2 RC on A4 sized page has same worth as it is being stamped on passport. Normally when caseworker has no passport then he issue it on paper. Just keep it safe with you along with passport. If you wish to transfer it on passport then its equal to make a fresh application.

Although the A4 RC paper has the same worth as it the RC being affixed in the passport, it should be noted that people have had difficulty getting other countries to recognise it as a valid RC (as its not actually in the passport).

Yeah I got my RC on a separate sheet of paper too! Well actually, I applied for my EEA1, which came pasted onto a stiff blue booklet, which is fine. My partner got his EEA2 on an 8x11" sheet of paper, it looks like I could have made this at home! I'm also worried it will rip or something. Does anyone know if we're permitted to cut the actual RC out of the sheet of paper and place it in something that will protect it? Or are we not allowed to fiddle with the actual sheet of paper?

I'd say no, you probably shouldn't take scissors to your Immigration Status Document. Mine is also on an A4 sheet, but the A4 page itself has other printing on it (UKBA logo, title page etc.), so it can be folded into a booklet - making it slightly more manageable. It is still bigger than my passport, so not ideal! I'll find a plastic sleeve or envelope or something similar to store it in, and hope for the best!

I'm sure it would be the same whether the 'label' itself was affixed to an A4 page or the passport itself - but I'm amazed at the poor quality of the photo reproduction.
