ILR Application and Car Insurance Conviction

Post by SgtBellPepper » Mon Oct 21, 2013 7:42 pm

Please can someone help with a very urgent problem!

I have a friend who is due to apply for ILR in December. Her husband is here as her dependent.

Recently due to a miscommunication with her insurance company she was stopped by the police and caught without renewed car insurance.

She was given 6 points and a fixed penalty fine.

How will this affect her application?

Am I right in thinking that driving offences (except for speeding/parking that wasn't issued in court) means an application will be declined, and the new rules mean you must wait to apply for 2 years from date of conviction?

What, if any, are her options if that is the case?

She is here on an Ancestral visa.

Thanks for any and all assistance.

Was this a simple FPN or a court conviction?

Stopped by police. Issued by police. Accepted and paid. Points on licence.

No court involvement.

Thanks.
