Travelling with ILR after getting BC

Hi everyone,

Kind of similar question to another recent travel query, however, with a slightly different twist.

My partner has been approved for her BC, but is awaiting her ceremony. Immedaitely after getting her certificate she will be applying for a passport.

The problem is, I doubt very much that the passport will arrive before we go abroad for a few days.

So my question is simply this : Will she be ok to re-enter the UK with her existing foreign passport and BRP? Or does the fact that she now has BC mean the BRP is no longer valid, and she MUST therefore re-enter on a British passport (meaning that my partner will not be able to travel with me)?

Technically, her ILR ceases to exist after grant of British citizenship (46). However, in practice, she should be okay to travel.

There is no requirement for British citizens to enter the UK on British passports; as opposed to the US, where there is a requirement for US citizens to enter the US on US passports.

It may be worth taking your certificate with you as well.
