eea2 - Employed or student?

Post by stefancamargo » Tue Dec 03, 2013 11:17 pm

Hi everyone!

Could you please advise me on what is the best option for the eea2 aplication? I am italian, and my wife, non-EU. I am studying at Uni and both of us are working and even if we were not, my Family would support us until I finished my studies. I got my fist payslip now and she will apply as soon as possible. The problem is that I would like to search for another job because this one may not give me less hours so could dedicate myself more to Uni, besides, it´s not a reliable one. Therefore, I am afraid to quit the job while in process if I apply as a worker.
So, I thought it might be better to apply as a student, but we don´t have large amounts of money in our joint accounts. I see that it is not mandatory to prove any specific amount so, my questions are:

1. Do you think I should apply as a worker or student?
2: If applying as a student, do the EHIC which I get free of charge count as a health insurance for this purpose?
3. are our savings account (which is aroung 5000) plus a single payslip of my full time job enough?

Many thanks

Regards

Hi

1. You can apply either student or Worker. Even if you work 10 hours per week that's fine but would recommend minimum 14

2. EHIC card is OK if issued by Italian authorities

apply for EEA1 / EEA 2 as a worker if you can.
UK Student Visa : 04/2004 - 09/2009
EEA Residence Card : 07/2010 - 7/2015
EU Settled Status: Confirmed on 16th July 2019
Naturalisation : Confirmed on 02nd Oct 2020
Passport Approval : 21st Feb 2021
