Post by iqkhanuk » Thu Jan 02, 2014 10:15 pm

Hi All,

I am bit confused here I got 3 years tier 1 in Dec 2009 I was working in middle east and got a job in Aug 2011 as I was advised to get a job first. I have got one extension till 2015.

My question is for 5 yr period for ILR is from the date of the visa endorsed or or from Aug 2011 in that case that will be 2016.

Can any one please be able to help on this.

I am struggling to find regulation on this one.

TIER 1 VISA 2nd Extension Feb 2015

Post by iqkhanuk » Wed Sep 10, 2014 9:20 pm

Hi All,

I am working full time at the moment. My Entry was Aug 2011 I have got extension in 2013 for 2 years till Feb 2015.

I have recently heared that april 2015 is the deadline for applying extension for TIER 1 General Visa.

https://www.gov.uk/tier-1-general/overview "From 6 April 2015 it will be closed to applicants who want to extend their visa."

I am looking forward to apply for 2nd extension in feb 2015 for 5 years period.

Can you please advise on the above.

Many thanks

You dont have to wait until Feb 2015, you can go ahead and apply now and you get an additional 3 yrs, or you could extend in Feb 2015, which will still give you 3 years.

Thanks for the reply.

My Initial Tier 1 Visa for 3 years in Dec 2009.

Date of Arrival in UK Sep 2011

Applied for 1st Extension in Nov 2012 (Apply not before 1 month rule)

get extension in Feb 2013 to Feb 2015

Period of 5 years will be completed in 1 sep 2016 for ILR

Tier 1 visa 1st extension will expire on Feb 2015.

How can I apply before my current understanding is we cannot apply in advance more than a month.

Let me know if anything is not clear above.

Many thanks

You can apply as early as you please and there is no rule restricting you from doing that.

Applying within the last 28 days is recommended for folks who dont require a 2nd extension and qualify with just 1 extension.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

If I apply now for the extension, then from which periof HO will grant leave. is it Sep 2014 to sep 2016 or from Feb 2015 to Feb 2017.

I may have miss some communication but Are people applying well advance as I was under the impression that only apply for the extension before 1 month it expires.

Just search the forum a bit and you will see many people have successfully done this. And your visa will be granted for 3 years from the date the decision was made.

Post by iqkhanuk » Wed Jan 07, 2015 7:08 pm

Hi All

On tier 1 extension forms they required reference number which reference number is that

Is it the letters sent to us for biometric or visa acknowledge letter ?

C4; What is the reference number for the most recent application of the PBS main applicant
you are dependant on? (ht)

you would normally only have a reference number if you applied for something inside the UK by post, it will be on your acknowledgement and approval letters

if you applied at PEO and received a decision on the same day, you will most likely not have a case reference, but you can then use your brp number in that field

You may be able to apply to settle once you’ve been in the UK for 5 years. You can apply to settle as a Tier 1 (General) worker until 6 April 2018.
