ILR success at Croydon 17 Jan 2014

Hi,
My ILR was approved on 17/1/2014 at Croydon

I had a minor issue with the application which is discussed here -> http://www.immigrationboards.com/indefi ... 50841.html

Documents submitted

1) SET(O) form and 2 photos (no dependents)
2) Passports and BRP
3) LITUK pass letter
4) 12 months payslips and bank statements
5) Self letter for absences
6) MSc degree certificate for English language
7) Employers letter stating I am an employee since when and designation
8) Photocopies of all above documents except the application form
9) Self assessment summary
10) Appointment confirmation sheet
11) Payment confirmation sheet

Was carrying a lot of other documents like P60s, absence letter from employer, HMRC letters and tax returns etc

I had also consulted an experienced adviser who asked me to create covering letters, earnings summary, 3 proofs of address/accommodation, P60s for at least 3 out of last 5 years and a letter from bank showing at least £1000 in the last 1 week but all of that is not required for the application, was carrying all those papers with me just in case

Reached the PEO more than an hour early but took a chance anyway and was allowed straight in, breezed through security, registration & biometric, staff was courteous and helpful

Lot of people were in the waiting area

Got a call from CW in less than an hour saying application was successful and to confirm the address to send BRP, had booked the last possible appointment on a Friday afternoon

Few tips

1) Keep documentation to the minimum, do not submit anything which is not required
2) Make your application stand out, use PDF Xchange to type, this way your application will be clean and legible, this may take a bit more time but its more than worth it and you have a softcopy of your application for reference
3) Don't forget to write your full name at the back of photos

Congratulations, will u please elaborate personal letter for absences. I am on tier1G and going for ILR next month. Also did you got appointment through agent or by your self and if agent how much you paid and if possible there address.
I am very nervous about the earnings part as well because now they ask too many questions to verify the genuineness of earnings as i have a limited company.

How far back did your self assessment cover? 1 year or 5 years?

Did you resolve the tax issues at all before the apppointment?

Did they ask for your tax returns for the last 5 years?

I booked the appointment myself, had consulted an adviser just to know if the tax issue would be a problem, if your case is straightforward then you don't need any adviser

There is a template of absences letter on the forum, mine wasn't very different

If your earnings are genuine then you don't need to worry about anything

I was self employed for my initial T1 application, the tax in question is from 2009

HMRC hasn't got back to me yet, my accountant said that's probably because the tax amendment is for an out of date year and the amount is very small so its not a high priority job for them

HO did not ask for any tax returns

Congrats - just a question for Section 10 Question 8 where it says

Give details when the BRP was done

Is it just a date or is there something else to add like extension of stay.

Sorry if this appears like a stupid question

Please let me know what I should write there.

Hi,
Write the date if you remember and occasion (eg T1 extension)
You may be able to find the date if you used a card to pay, if not the date then write the month & year
Q9 write which post office if your application was postal, else just the city & country

Congratulations on successful ILR. I wanted to ask you about the letter you receive when the case worker returns the document. Does the letter state that the application is successful or it just state that the Biometric card will be delivered in 7 days?

In my case the CW called to confirm the address so she said application was successful

I have got my ILR approved today. I was bit confused with the wording on the letter.

me applying with SET (O) , got my business account statement for 12 months, all clean and clear. do I need to bring my personal account st too??

If all your income is in business account then no need to get personal account statement

but someone ( an immigration consultant) said that I need to get personal account statement ( three months) as evidence in relation to Section 5 SET (O).
I guess my personal st shows no income source and for that all I need is Business acc.

Most of section 5 is for Tier 2 General applicants, you need to answer only 5.1 to 5.5

I refer to 5.6 which needs details and then at page 48 under the head FINANCES see Note 5.
but still I agree it will be a Business statement and not a personal or savings that is evidence to details at 5.6.

5.6 and rest of section 5 is not applicable for Tier 1
