Family visitor visa or General Visitor visa ?

Post by AmitM » Tue Jun 17, 2014 10:24 am

Hi Friends,

I am on ILR/settled here since October 2013 and my wife and 2yr kid are still on Tier 1 general dependent visa.I want to bring my Mother-in-Law (MIL) to UK for 2-3 months visit. Should I apply her under Family visitor category stating that she is visiting her Son-in-Law (Since I have ILR in the UK) or apply under General visitor category since my wife(my MIL's daughter) visa category is still Tier 1 General Dependent.
I am not sure if both family member's needs to be settled here or any one can be settled in order to apply for Family Visitor visa.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Vinny.

My only concern was that ECO should not reject visa on the grounds that my wife and kids are still on Tier 1 General Dependent. If anyone was in similar situation please share their experience on this forum as it may help others as well.
