Child Born in UK, but lives outside -Help Please

Post by shaggie44 » Mon Jan 12, 2015 3:22 pm

Afternoon guys,

We are after a bit of info or pointer in the right direction. Here's the situ, my partner's had a son when she was a student (student visa) around 2004. The son (10 nw) went back to Zim and has been living there since.

Now we both have iLR and are planning on applying for BC this year, what is the best course of action to include her son as we wanted him to come and live with us here.

On a slightly separate note regarding the 12-month qualifying period for naturalisation, does one have to wait the full 12 months before lodging the application or it can be done a month before?

Recommended by vinny at many places, to apply for son's BC with your application.

Yes full 12 months, no discretion.

Since a parent has ILR, UK-born child is entitled to register for British citizenship now.

Thanks for your response

But did you mean entitled to register when the parent applies for british citizenship?
