I am not sure what D visa is but I dont think that you need to rush for visa the same day she arrives..

For category D visa, she will be given temporary stamp at airport. It could be anywhere between 4 keeps to 3 months. She must register with GNIB before temporary stamp expires.

Why did she get the D type visa ?
Did you apply for her as EEA Citizen dependent ?

Is she coming from which country ?

I think if you applied as EEA-Dependent she was supposed to get the category -C Visa for three months.

As per my knowledge

I'd register in the first week, or something soon like that. Residency in Ireland (for purposes of citizenship by naturalization later on) is calculated on the basis of GNIB registration stamps.
