I came in UK as a student in 2,000 and stopped renewing my visa in 2002. i.e. overstayed my visa from 2002 - 2008.
Claimed Asylum in 2008 and was granted Refugee Status in the same year.
I was granted ILR in 2013
Applied for Naturalisation in December 2014 (after 1 yr with ILR)
In 2015, Good character requirement was amended to 10 yrs.
Home Office wrote asking me to provide proof of residence otherwise my application will be rejected.
Question: How likely would succeed If I argue that the 2015 changes/ interpretation of the Good Character came into effect after my application was submitted?
That's not how it works, 2018 is when you need to apply. Straight from the horse's mouth:Smam wrote:Hi,
To the best of my understanding you've a 100 % chance to win as the rule came after you've applied for your Naturalization.
Good luck with your BC application.

This guidance applies to all decisions taken on or after 11 December 2014.
Well you can say you gave it your best shot.TMataz wrote:HI all - received the decision from HO.
Its a refusal based on the good chacter requirement.
