British passport application

Post by chimerka » Fri Nov 04, 2016 2:52 pm

Hi, I came to UK in 2005, my question is about British passport after naturalization. Application for British passport says to give uncancelled passports. I have one passport from 2007, another current passport biometric from 2011, but I don't have more passports. In many EU countries you cant keep your old passports, they are destroyed. Are these passports enough for getting British passport after naturalization? Thank you.

Surely if your old passports have been destroyed, they are cancelled :?:

I meant other countries actually, where people have only one passport. I am not sure if I left my passport from 15 years ago in passport departments or I just destroyed it. So I should call passport department in Slovakia and ask them to cancel my old passport from 2005, which I don't know number of or any info? That will make it cancelled I guess. Is this necessary , so I could get my British passport? I just cant believe people store their passport , our governemtn website says we need to destroy it when we get new one.

Based on my understanding of the instructions for passport application:

1) Cancelled Passport - corner is cut off and probably each page stamped "invalid" - not required (I have a few of those).
2) Uncancelled Passport (includes out of date) - required - enclose your 2007 & 2011 PPs.

If there are no other passports in your possession then nothing to worry about.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

I have one out of date passport, But it was not cut in the corner, But i can see there is stamp on the 2nd page, Cancelled.

So i haven't included in my passport application, I believe it wont cause any issue. Please clarify in this case.

Regards,
Suresh

Different countries cancel in different ways.
For example, some punch holes in the cover.
All that is gold does not glitter; Not all those who wander are lost. E&OE.
