ILR Refused-SOC-2119 Need help

Hi Manci,

Just reading the above issue, I am a bit confused as 2119 is in the shortage occupations list from 2014. The list has been revised twice since and the updated list does not have it.

I am due for ILR later this year and on the same job code as i work as an R&D scientist. I have had a extension in my previous company on the same job code (previously on code 2321 - moved to 2119 during extension application - codes of practice updated job list SOC2000 to SOC2010).. on switching employer , i was assigned the same job code.

Please can you advice...

for SOC code 2119 there shouldn't be any problem.

neither code 2321 nor 2119 have been on the shortage occupation list since 2011.

In any case, since code 2119 jobs are PhD level the £35k income threshold does not apply. See para 245HF(f) in the immigration rules:

Currently the min. salary for code 2119 jobs is £27.2k for a 40 hour week but by the time you apply for ILR it may increase - look out for changes.

this is the only revision that states 2119 being limited for bioinformatician and informatician.. But the document has been updated to the most recent codes of practice.
