Question for British Citizenship application - Refrees

Post by Jacob123 » Mon Mar 13, 2017 11:13 am

Dear members and moderators,
I have been a member of this forum for more than 6 years now and this forum has helped me immensely in my journey.

Planning to apply for Citizenship application for self and 3 dependents (wife and 2 children) in May, have already booked NCS appointment 2nd week of May.

My case - Tier 1 General for 5 years + 1 Year ILR

Question: I need some clarification on the 1st referee, referee who has professional standing. Have read the 6A document and think following two referee categories I can get

1. Director/Manager/Personnel Officer of a VAT registered Company
Clarification - I know few people who are doing IT contracting and have set up a VAT registered company and are director of that company. Are they eligible to be a referee

2. Manager/Personnel officer (of limited company)
Clarification - The company I work in is a limited company. We do IT work. Are project managers, Account managers fine to be referee

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Jacob

Dear CR001, Many thanks for the quick reply. I have followed your advise during ILR as well that was of immense help.
on the 2nd point Manager/Personnel officer (of limited company) - why you say no. Is there a place/document where there are details around who fits into these rolls and who don't.

I will go with your advise anyway but just wanted to understand.

Thanks once again for your kind help.

Cheers,
Jacob

A IT or Project Manager is not what HO mean by the definition of 'manager/personnel officer'. It must be like a General Manager, MD, HR Manager etc.

Dear CR001,

One more question - Can the same referee be the referee for my wife and two kids. He knows them.

Regards,
Jacob

Yes. Referees must not be related to each other or to you or your family.

Thanks so much.

On the MN1 form it says Each referee should know the child personally. One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

From the above text it appears the refree shd have interacted with the child in a professional capacity? Any more thoughts on this

Cheers,
Jacob

Yes, ideally they should.

How old are your children?

Your referees should be fine. The other requirement is mostly for small children. Remember the form is used for many types of BC applications.

Thank you CR001. In the form question 5.2 Say how you know the child - what shd the referee write. He would not have interacted with the child professionally

Jacob

'Work colleague and friend of father'

Alternatively, ask the children's teachers.

Hi,

If they are not satisfied with the referees, will they reject the application straight away or will they ask for more details or ask details about some other referee ?

Teacher's are an option. The challenge is we shifted to a new area abt 3 years ago and Kids started school from Sept. By May when we plan to submit the application it will be short by about 3 months. Somewhere I have read that the reefrees shd be knows to you for 3 years at the minimum.

Jacob

I'm having the same issues with the professional referee for my 13 year old son, I didn't realise the teacher/GP/health visitor requirement is mostly for younger children. Thank you CR001, it will be so much easier to find a professional referee who knows the child but has not engaged with the him profesionally.

Hi.

One of my referee is a nursery teacher. She has been working as nursery teacher for 9 years.
Teacher is an accepted profession for AN form. Does nursery teacher come under it and is acceptable?

Thanks!

Would a person with a job title 'Head of Division' be recognised as a professional person?

Please, this is NOT a general discussion topic for questions about referees. It is rude and unfair to the original poster for so many other members just to tag their own questions on.

Start your own topic or continue in one you already have.

Apologies to user 'Jacob123' for locking your topic.
