Extending a contract under the same Tier 2 (General) visa

Hi all,

If my current employer has previously issued me a CoS for a longer period than my contract actually covers, and accordingly I got a visa for that (longer) period, and now my employer may prolong my contract within the bounds of this period, I don't need to re-apply for the visa, right?

No, your contract of employment is a separate issue.

I do however hope that you are not in fact 'contracting' for a third party or umbrella company.

But then if the contract ends and not prolonged, even if the visa is still on, employer is supposed to let UKVI know and they can lift the visa, right?

No, I am not doing such a terrible thing! The CoS was issued by the same institution which I work for!

So I resume I should not worry about the visa update?

If your contract ends and your employer is no longer going to sponsor you, then they have to let UKVI know yes.
