HMPO text messages

Post by Question888 » Thu May 11, 2017 4:51 pm

I have been receiving texts from two seemingly different sources claiming to be from Her Majesty's Passport office. Are they authentic?

I received the first text from "40604" in February 2017 after receiving my new passport - informing me that the passport had arrived, signing off as Her Majesty's Passport Office.

I received another message from "HMPO" with no number given, in May 2017. It was on a separate thread from the previous one. It said 'my application was being processed' although I hadn't applied for a new passport as I already had a valid one.

I cancelled the previous passport and applied for a new one two days ago.

I received yet another message this morning from "HMPO" (not 40604) today saying my new passport would soon be on its way.

Are all these messages from the Passport Office? If so why do they appear to be from two different sources (40604 and HMPO)? Which one is correct? And why am I receiving inaccurate notifications regarding applications I never made?

Online status checking for (what?) is not operating - was beta before.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

As has been posted many times, the HMPO text messages are automated. It does not mean your citizenship is approved.
