Sponsorship for FLR(FM for my wife, after approval of set(lr

Hi all,

I am thinking to vary my application from set(o) to set(lr). I have my wife as my dependent in set(o) application, and after varying my application, she has to apply for flr(fm). unfortunately I am not able to meet £18000 salary requirement. I have heard about new rules came on 20th july 2017 as close friend or family can sponsor if financial requirement is not met by settled person.
could anybody please guide me if my relative can sponsor her. they are British citizen and have a good job and pay.
