UK Visit Visa for unemployed mother

Post by choopa » Sun Sep 17, 2017 11:53 am

Hello,

I am looking to bring my mother to the UK next month. I'm currently on Tier II General which expires end of next year.

My mom is unemployed, does not have a bank account, and does not speak English. My parents are farmers and the business is cash based.

In her visa application we have stated that I will sponsor all of her costs, and have also stated a rough estimate of my family's yearly income. I am a little concerned because we have no way of proving this. Additionally, looking at the visa application checklist there is a section which requires "Bank statements / bank books / bank letter / balance certificate / tax returns /crop receipts" from the applicant.

Has someone been in a similar situation? Will my financial details (as a sponsor) be sufficient in the supporting documents:
- passport and visa copy
- payslips for the past 6 moths
- banks statements attested for the past 6 months
- rental agreement and utility bill copy
- letter confirming that i will be her sponsor

Additional documents which we will provide:
- passport copy from her husband and other kids back home
- marriage certificate
- flight itinerary showing the dates of her travel

Her visa appointment is in the coming week, and any help is greatly appreciated.

Highly likely that she will be refused a visitor visa without substantial evidence of her financial, social and family ties to home country.

Without proof of income/pension etc., she will have a problem.

Your documents are less important to the ECO.

Thank you for your reply. I can prove her social ties to home (she lives with my father and my siblings, and we will copy their passports). Would stating in my invitation letter that they earn their living from agriculture help with the application?

Without evidence of bank statements, payslips, tax documents etc, simply stating they earn money is meaningless as you cannot prove it.

To update everyone, my mom got her visa today!

We submitted the following documents in support of her ties at home:
- Her marriage certificate translated and notarized
- Our family house ownership certificate translated and notarized
- My father's and siblings' copy of passports
- A cover letter from her explaining her ties at home, her source of income as well as the desire to visit me

Additionally, we submitted these:
- My bank statements for the last six months - stamped and signed by the bank
- My employer's letter confirming my work status and salary
- The copy of my passport and work visa
- Payslips for the last 6 months
- An invitation letter from me which confirmed I will sponsor all the costs. I also elaborated on her source of income in that letter
- My rental agreement and a copy of council tax bill

Everyone else's experiences here were very helpful in the application process, thank you all. Hope my experience helps someone in the future.

Congrats. Which country you applied from? Do you mind sharing the cover letter and invitation letter with me?
