Holiday Period Applications

Does someone by any chance know how the UKBA run during the holiday period? Do they try to finish the ongoing applications or just close shop until the holidays have passed, what is your experience?

I am worried because although I did my application the priority postal route the BRP should arrive (when looking at guideline timelines) around the general Christmas time and I have no idea if that means there will be delays (and how severe they would be as I would like to travel home in January when we celebrate Orthodox Christmas).
