February 2018 Restricted COS

Post by newentrant » Tue Feb 06, 2018 2:57 am

Hello all!
Just thought I’d start this topic for this month’s allocation.
It would be useful to know if you’re applying for a restricted COS:
- whether the job is on the shortage occupation list
- how many points do you score/salary

Good luck everyone!
My employer is re applying after being unsuccessful in December and January. Job isn’t on the shortage list and I score 33 points.

Hello, I applied in December and Jan too. My score is 36. Hoping for a miracle. Any predictions as to what the cut off will be this month? There are 1600 CoS plus around 250 unused ones which will be reclaimed so thats about 1850-1900 which is higher than any of the two previous months.

How did you calculate your score or I may ask is there any other topic related to the score?

It is just an average of how many COS have been unused it the past. The real number could be higher or lower (for our sake's lets hope its higher!)

Thanks a lot for sharing this information.
I have applied for this month and my job is pHD level. Hoping to get the allocation.

Few more questions
1) For RCOS application, generally not much information was asked for RLMT (eg; for screen shots, candidates applied etc.) just asked the add details where posted. Is that sufficient ?
I mean at which stage of the tier 2 application RMLT in detail is asked.

2) What is the turn around time to get the decision after meeting this month on 12 Feb. When can one expect decision from the authority?

Hi folks,

I'm on 24 points for my CoS at the moment and job is not on shortage. Though I'm not really sure whether I count as coming from a 'milkround' which would bump me up to 34 points. November/December have been awful since I could've gotten in last year if it weren't for a few mistakes with my company's application for a CoS.

I'm predicting that the Home Office will make their final decisions by the 19th of February, since I've seen that they release CoS statistics roughly 7 days after an allocation meeting (this case being the 12th). It will be a miracle if the points needed are more lenient assuming the demand for skilled migrants have been the same as it was last year.

Hi all, I was on a Tier 4 visa working for my employer after my studies, but my visa expired end of January, just one week before their sponsor licence was approved so I've had to leave the country. They submitted for this month's allocation. I'm at 30 points, not on shortage occupation list, although I've read in Home Office announcements that from fall 2016, extra weighting will be given to UK graduates who have returned overseas in the monthly RCoS allocation rounds. Does anyone know about this?

Best of luck to everyone, living in limbo is more stressful than I could have imagined.

I too am struggling with this. My life, boyfriend, job ect.. are all over there while I wait for my visa to go through. Struggling to live in limbo waiting with the uncertainty of the situation.
I have 31 pts. What are people's predictions for this month? :(

I guess we will find out in just over a week

I just analyzed the minimum points threshold in all months since April 2016, they all were 21, except for December 2017 (55 points) and January 2018 (46 points), does anyone have an estimation for the reason the points have been increased in the last two months?

I think it has a lot to do with a mass recruitment of nurses from the NHS. I've read a few articles online about this.

I'm in an extremely similar situation to you both personally and points wise - I've been in the UK for 2 years on the youth mobility visa before coming home to apply for this one so I don't currently have a job in my home country which is causing huge amounts of stress and depression on top of the limbo. Sitting around not being able to work, especially when you have a job sitting there that you're unable to do is very distressing.

I've already been searching for work in my home country rigorously as I feel it's highly unlikely my COS will be approved this month however unfortunately I keep hitting dead ends due to the time of year and the only work looking promising doesn't start until April which doesn't help my current situation one bit.

Hang in there guys and good luck. I wouldn't wish our current situation on anyone.

Is NHS fine with number of recruited nurses so far, or are they still going to stamp us down with masses?

I work in the NHS and trust me when I say they will need a lot more. A very large percentage of nurses come from the EU and migration from there has fallen significantly after Brexit meaning the NHS need to recruit a lot of nurses from out of UK/EU.

It would be worse at present due to winter pressures (this is what we term the period over winter where there’s a lot of pressure on the hospitals and pretty much every bed is taken up) but trust me the mass recruitment of nurses will need to continue following Brexit.

Hope the UK government looks in to this there is no changes to the quota of 20 700 from 2011 which is 7 years old and now brexit and winter crisis. I can see so many people struggling because of this. Hope the SOC jobs such as nursing goes down this month or else am sure it will be 40-45 cutoff again.

Thanks,
Kiccha

Hi All, My employer has re applied in the this month (February), after being unsuccessful in January. Job isn’t on the shortage list and I score 40 points. Any Chances of getting approval this month (feb) for 40 points?

@Vakula you have a good chance but it's not guaranteed though, it depends on the 45 band which has been denied since December and the no of SOC applications this month.

Thanks,

Don't worry it's all about time if not this month you ll definately in April. It's all about time. Just enjoy the moments in hand rather than thinking about this. I know it's easier said than done but this is how things are. Am applying for the first time and have 42.

Thanks,
