Amount of wage slips required for UK spouse visa

Post by watfordfc » Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:38 am

Hi, I'm hoping to marry my American girlfriend soon and have her join me in the UK within the next 3-4 months, using the UK Spouse visa route.

However, I just finished studying in Jan and have just gotten my first job since then. So, will only have 3 months bank statements and wage slips to submit with the application form. Is this enough? aslong as it shows ample savings and that she will not be a burden on public funds.

Cheers! 8)

Suggest you put in your contract of employment to make up for only having 3 monthhs wage slips.

Hi there,

Six months payslips would be better but in this case, it’s not possible for you to supply them. What you could do instead is get a “letter of employmentâ€

Hi, thanks for the great information.

In regards to the P60, as far as i'm aware, i'll recieve one in April 2008, but it might only show 1 month of work, or even worse, my pay slips could miss the end of the fiscal year.

I'm just curious, what would i do if i am not issued a P60 because i just missed the 2008 april fiscal year, will i have to wait until April 2009 before applying for the visa?

sorry, i'm just a little confused.

Thanks again for your help!

PS. My girlfriend will be working in the UK when she arrives, we're actually going to go job hunting for her in a few weeks when she comes to visit me. She has a masters degree, so hopefully that should help!

instead of ur P60 u can get a P2 its a document showing ur TAX details and that the company u work for is registerd with the HRMC (I THINK!!)

Get in touch with the local inland revenue and request ur P2 just say u need it to check ur tax details. U should do this now becauz sumtimes this doc takes ages to come!

guys correct me if im wrong okay :P

We've enquired a few times and have been told each time that the application is being processed and to call back in a few days. So, it's just a waiting game at the moment; still, no news is good news! :)

Watford, you should still get a P60 but they won't be issued until after 6th April and yours will only be for the three months (since January).

Also, don't forget to take lots of photos when your girlfriend comes to the U.K. You can submit these with your application as evidence that you have met, keep in touch, the relationship is genuine and subsisting, etc. :)

Thanks for the info mate. Sorry if i didn't make it clear, but i've only been at my new job for 3 weeks now you see (not since Jan), so i'm almost sure i won't be issued a P60 for 2007-2008, but will have to wait until April 2009 to get my P60 for 2008-2009.

Basically, how does one prove that they are paying taxes if they don't have a P60, because i'm pretty sure i won't have one for when it comes to applying as i will have been starting work near the beginning of the fiscal year 2008-2009.

Thanks for any info!

This immigration stuff is so dang confusing!

Watford...

YOur payslips should show tax deductions - state in a covering letter that your 1st P60 isnt going to be due until 2009, and that all tax paid can be viewed via payslips (attach a seperate letter itemising what the gross/net earning for months x,y,z are)

Best to submit more info than less - however insignificent it may seem)

What is the importance of the p60?

I thought that having payslips and bank account statements would be enough to satisfy the financial aspect of 'no recourse to publice funds'.

Could someone explain what the amount of tax paid would add?

In the future my wife and I will move back to the UK and we will apply for a spousal visa for my wife. I have been told that if I have enough savings and show that I have good job prospects that should be enough.

Thanks.

We're trying to be very patient (all good things come to those who wait and all that); we're leaving it for a few days for them to contact him, if no contact, then let the pestering commence!! :)

I submitted 8 payslips, but that was because some of the extra payslips included some company bonuses I received.

Have you got all your paperwork sorted? When will your husband be submitting his application?

I know what you mean mate, i see some people getting the visa approved with 3 months payslips, but others are certain it is 6 months. I've decided to wait until i have 6 months, just to be sure. Good luck with your application.
