Driving insurance in first year of visa

Post by Steph19 » Wed Nov 28, 2018 7:31 pm

Hello,

How difficult is it for my husband to get insured when he comes to UK? He has just received his 2.5 year spouse visa.

He has a full license in his home country and wants to drive when he's here. We know that he can drive in his first year.

I only have a provisional license unfortunately!

Should I get insurance and add him or is it better for him to get his own?

Anyone got any hints and tips for us?

He can drive with his foreign license up to 12 months and buy insurance on his name. It is a bit more expensive than if he has a UK licence but not very much. He should get UK license as soon as possible.
