Voluntary deportation

Post by Jackie95 » Sat Dec 29, 2018 4:29 pm

I have a friend who's student visa and ran out on ghe 27th december and she no funds to leave the country. She's called the home office to ask for help in leaving the country . They have told her to call them back next week.

I am worried that they might lock her up in a detention centre and since she's having help in leaving the country they might make it hard for her to come again in future. I don't know what to do to help her. Flight tickets are super expensive this time of the year

Does anyone know what the home office will do?

I believe there is no such a thing as "voluntary deportation", as deportation implies enforced removal, but I may be wrong, as I am not an expert or a professional adviser. You are probably talking about "voluntary return", which can be or not at the expenses of the person who is living. It is all explained in the following link: https://www.gov.uk/return-home-voluntarily

A ban will apply depending on some circumstances, like how long the person has overstayed and how she will leave. In the immigration rules, this is stated in particular in 320(7b) : https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration ... or-refusal

This topic has been previously discussed here: general-uk-immigration-forum/voluntary- ... 33055.html

Again, I am not a specialist.

I meant "leaving", not "living".

If she has no money and no credit card I advise she asks friends or family to book the flight for her. She needs to leave the UK as soon as possible.
