Long Residency starts with visitor visa

Post by Ali272 » Mon Oct 29, 2018 10:37 am

Hello,

I came to the UK almost 10 years ago on a visitor visa. It was a type C visa, valid for 6 months and multi entry.

I came for a visit for only 9 days and left the country and returned 102 days later with a student visa. Since I came back with a student visa, I have been outside the UK very few times and have had no refusals or overstay.

My question is can I start my long residency countdown from the date I entered the UK as a visitor?

Note: The visitor visa was valid when I left the country and was still valid when I came back on a student visa.

Thanks.

Long residence 28 days early application

Post by Ali272 » Sat Dec 22, 2018 8:01 pm

Hello,

I entered the UK on 19th February 2009. When is the first day I can submit my application online? As I understand HO counts online application submission date as the date of the application. When is the first day I can apply? 22nd or 23rd January? I'm a little confused.

Many thanks

U are finding it hard to count 28 days back from 19th feb? (28-19=9; 31-9= 22)

I know this time is stressful for you but you have waited for 10 years for this day, u can wait 2/3 days above it too.

I think the OP is confused if the “visa expiry day” is included or not counting backwards.

Having said that, if there is no extreme urgency I would give 2/3 extra days as advised by Meesha also.

Is passport sized photos required anymore?

Post by Ali272 » Sun Jan 20, 2019 9:03 pm

Hi,

I'm applying for long residence next week. Does HO requires passport sized photos anymore? I can't see anything in the application form.

Thanks.

Not required. They will take your biometric and photo at the appointment.

SET (LR) application form help

Post by Ali272 » Tue Jan 22, 2019 1:48 pm

Hello,

I'm applying for long residence this week. The application form says if I have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK. What should I write? Can I say that I came to the UK at age 17 and since then I have left the UK only a handful of times and hence it would be unreasonable to expect me to leave after 10 years.

Thank you

You don't have to write anything if you choose not to.

Ok, thank you and sorry for confusing forum rules. One more question. Just to confirm, If I have all my passports for the entire 10 year period, I don't need to supply additional evidence (such as council tax, tenancy agreement,.....) to prove that I have been resident, is that right? Thank you so much
