How long does issuing an unrestricted COS take?

Post by rajarshi10 » Wed Jan 23, 2019 11:08 pm

I am on a Tier 4 student visa looking for jobs and I was wondering if anyone can tell me the time to get an unrestricted COS to switch to Tier 2 General in case I do end up getting a job offer in UK. I am a little concerned due to the validity of my visa which is under a month now.

Any help will be appreciated.

My new employer applied before Christmas and we only just received it. Took in total a month including holidays etc. So I would say be patient and wait for two weeks and it'll come through.

I will tell the time taken when my past employers requested for UCOS:

July 2015: Within 1 week (Standard service)
July 2018: Within 3 working days (Requested using priority service)

Now a days they delay in COS allocation and it might take few days to few weeks time. I suggest to ask you employer to request using priority service to get it fast. See following link:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ce-service

Note: If un-used COS allocation is already available then it can be assigned immediately within minutes.
