Work Permit Lost

Post by s_man1000s » Sun Jun 08, 2008 10:39 pm

I've misplaced or lost my original copy of my work permit
sheet.

The problem now is, I'm about to go for ILR this week and found
this problem.

Now my questions are:

1) Can I still able to apply my ILR with the photo copy of my work permit?
(in case I prefer same day ILR service)

2) Also, is there any chance to obtain the copy of my Work Permit again
from HO?

Please answer me, if anyone knows about this issue.

Thank you

I could be wrong on this one but are they asking for this in particular on the form?

and I am sure a copy (if you have one) should do just fine......

I wonder when I go in person, I mean in PCO, will they ask for
originals...?
I'm bit doubtful...

Doesn't the HO only accept originals?

Hi there!

I had a very similar problem whilst applying fo ILR. There is no mention of the WP document on the form but since I applied by post, the caseworker wrote to me asking for all my original WP documents (3 so far)

The funny part is that WP documents are the employers property and not the employee, i.e. myself. My previous employers had misplaced mine as well but was lucky that I at least had the last one in my possession.

I sent it along with a very clear explanation that I was unable to find the other two. They accepted it and sent me back my passport with ILR.

I ould strongly suggest that you carry yours along with you when applying in person. As per the letter the caseworker wrote to me, they strongly emphasize on the original WP documents and may lead to rejection if not made available.

This is my previous post http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewto ... highlight=

Wish you all the very best,

EY

@eggyolk

Thanks for your reply...

But I afraid, I could find the original of my last WP.

I've got the originals of my previous two WPs.

If there is a provision the get the copy of my original WP
again from HO, I can do that....

otherwise no other way, except I go with the copy of my last WP.

Hi,

I had also lost my WP and wanted original for NI. On request to WP office, they had issued another one which was having all required details along with a cover letter detailing that WP issued due to original copy has been lost.

They demanded the original copy when I went last year.

@ llNicell

How did you obtain it?

Have you been to PCO or did you send the letter to HO?

Please explain me the procedure you followed to get that...

Thank you

Your employer needs to apply for the lost WP document to the relevant WP team.

You can't apply to obtain it.

Check UK BIA website and e-mail them with your questions.

Hi,

I had informed to my employer about WP lost. My HR manager had a talk with Solicitor who worked for my WP also. Solicitor asked me to fax him photo copy of my WP and passport page where entry clearance had been stamped.Rest was done by solicitor. It cost £500 to my employer as solicitor fee (luckily not to me). It took about 5 to 6 working days to get my new WP…Finally I applied for NI and got the number in 4-5 weeks.

@llNicell

In my case, once I requested employment letter
for ILR application, they are bit upset thinking
I might leave them once I receive ILR!

It is my mistake loosing my WP, so I think my
employer might not be interested in getting the
copy quicker...

That is the reason, I want to go with the copy of my WP
for my ILR application.

I'm going to try with the copy of the WP anyway.

Thank you

Hello

If this help, you should also keep the original with you on holiday when you are still working with the same employer, just in case they have questions at the desk!!!!!

It soes not cost money to get the replacement because it is not the same as a work permit - see this:
To replace a lost work permit
218. You may request a reprint of a permit lost in transit (includes lost overseas) that has not been used to enter the UK. Requests should be made in writing or by fax to the original team who made the decision. Reprints will be free of charge. If you request a reprint of a work permit that has been lost and has already been used to enter the UK by your employee and the loss has taken place in the UK, we will issue a work permit certificate free of charge. The UK Border Agency reserves the right to undertake investigations to determine the facts of each case. If the original permit is subsequently found, it should be returned, as the reprinted permit supersedes it.
Your employer needs to write to the work permits department explaining that you need a copy. They will need to include a copy of your entry clearance or your leave to remain. This is because the letter will say that you can work for the employer until the dates on your visa, rather than 60 months or whatever was on your permit.

Guidance notes

llNicell -£500 is reeaally steep for the cost of a sheet of paper, bit of typing, a little printer ink and a stamp, because the HO does it for free & it should be very straight forward.

I hope this helps.

Here is the details

WP 1 - Employer XXX
WP 1 + Exten - Employer XXX
WP1 + Exten - Employer XXX - This workpermit has been taken by the employer XXX

WP 2- Employer AAA

Now Tier 1..

Please help me , how do i get the original WP copy from home office. Do I require the copy anyway, as they have my info already for ILR. Any one passed thru the similar situation.
