MN1 Online form help

Post by FaeLLe » Wed Feb 13, 2019 8:49 pm

This seems related to my case so continuing here,

(1) parents have ILR (after Tier 2 General)
(2) the child (under 18) has no passport except a UK Birth Certificate proving the place of birth as UK

What do they answer on the MN1 form for "Nationality details" and "Country of nationality" do they choose the option - "Officially Stateless" ?

Kindly refrain from tagging onto other members topics, it is unfair to other posters.

Thanks folks. Any guidance on what I should declare as nationality for a child who has never been registered as a citizen at any counsulate ?

Is it ok to state "Officially stateless" and do we need to explain anything in the section where it lets you add any other information for consideration?

Some posts on this forum say Registration as a British Citizen fails when nationality is declared as "Officially Stateless" due to paragraph 403 (c)? But I am not sure what this means.

Any help is appreciated please.

I can't find what your or your spouse's nationality is in any of your previous posts. Useful to state this information if asking for advice.

Apologies missed that out completely..

Nationality is Indian and is the one associated with our ILR in UK, we gave up our USA citizenship 10 years ago.

My understanding is that because India does not confer citizenship by descent when born outside India (and the child needs to register at an overseas consulate to get Indian citizenship - which we have not done) she will be considered STATELESS.

Is that correct please?

Form MN1 - Unable to find referees

Post by FaeLLe » Mon Feb 25, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi folks,

Trying to get the MN1 form for my daughter completed.
The guidance says one of the referees must have known the child professionally but the GP and health visitor refuse to sign the form and I do not send them to a nursery or have a child minder.

What options do I have? Can i get a solicitor to countersign the application?

Thanks.
