South African wanting to live in France

I have a friend who is in her late 50s and is wanting to join her son who is working in France. They are both South African. She is alone in SA and her daugher lives in the UK and that proves much harder for her to get into. By being in France she is close to her son and can visit her daughter much easier. Is there a good route for her to take? She does have a small stain-glass and pottery business in SA and has heard about an artists visa?
Any advice and suggestions much appreciated.

yes sorry - He is on a work visa - he has only been in France a year so does not qualify I am presuming for 'settled status' yet. Will her chance be better then?

Unlikely that a work visa allows family other than spouse and children to be dependents. She would stand a better chance if he was married to an EU (non French) citizen.

Not that 'settled status' is only relevant to the UK. Rest of Europe it is referred to a PR as far as I am aware.

So she would have to go in on her own visa - have you heard about an 'artists' visa?
