Travelling and Returning 2 months before Spouse Visa Expiry

Post by mahiku » Wed Aug 28, 2019 4:30 pm

Hello experts,

I am on a spouse visa with a Full-time job. My current (2.5 years) spouse visa expires by the end of November 2019. I am traveling outside of the UK in September for 3 weeks and returning by the end of September. I will apply for an FLR (M) extension of another 2.5 years by the end of October.

Is there any restriction to travel outside of the UK and returning, if my spouse visa is near expiry (2 months)?

Cheers,
H.

You are free to travel and return to the UK while you have a valid visa.

Can I apply for an extension before 30 days, my current (first 2.5 years) expires?

An earliest a person can apply for extension is 28 days before completing the 30 months since arriving to UK. Also bear in mind that many times applying earlier can cause shortfall in the qualifying period towards ILR and then 3rd extension might be needed.
The opinion expressed as above is neither a professional advice nor contesting/competing to other member's opinion/advice.

Thanks Seagul, makes sense and will plan to apply by post during the last 28 days of expiry. In person seems to be expensive - extra £800!

You will have to apply online, no longer by post.

There is no longer an "In person" application. The £800 is for the 'Super Priority' service.
