Spousal visa

My job at the moment doesn't pay 18,600 GBP per year. I am relentlessly searching for new jobs and applying. Once I get a job that pays 18,600 GBP per year, and then my wife applies for a spousal visa as soon as I've held the job for six months, would the length of time I have held my current job be taken into consideration? Would the fact I've held it for six months - the bare minimum - be held against me?

Yes, that’s what you need to do. Once you get a job that pays £18,600 pa and get all the evidence for those six months (i.e., payslips), your wife can apply.

No, that’s not a requirement (length you’ve been working at that position). Home Office is quite strict with the financial requirement, but if you apply under Category A as you are planning, 6 months are enough to meet the requirement.

Why not you start doing overtime there instead searching a new job and then wait for next 6 months.

Not a problem to hold the job for only 6 months. Many people return to the UK to get a job for 6 months to satisfy the financial requirement or like you, move jobs to get a suitable salary, so probably quite common that people apply immediately after completing their 6 months.
As long as it is exactly 6 months or more date wise from start date to application date. So not like 5 months 3 weeks but over 6 months, I was nearly caught out by this as I started my job 6th of April so received 6 payslips etc by end of September so was about to apply 1st of October when I realised I needed to wait until after 6th of October to apply to make it over 6 months in the job.
