I doubt PR could be refused because of having obtained a benefit - presumably the status of the benefit applicant needed to be confirmed at the time of the application.
When a person applies for benefits I assume status in the country will be asked for if not a British citizen, residence permit ,PR, ILR, etc. I would though refer to Obie's opinion here.Which type of status are you referring to?
