Spouse visa 2.5y AUS Wife

Post by Slofire » Sun Jan 05, 2020 12:01 pm

Hi HNY to all and hope everybody is well and healthy.

I'm hoping to get some guidance on the following question regarding our situation.

I have checked previous posts,. Gov website and Citizens advice with no luck.

I'm a UK citizen and we live and work in the UK (2yrs now)
My wife (7yrs) is Australian on a Tier5 visa which runs out in April 2020
We are ready to submit and switch to a 2.5yr spouse visa.
With Brexit now set some news reports talk of an agreement with UK/AUS freedom of movement.

Prior to submitting thevisa applications is there any way to get information on if this UK/AUS deal will go ahead or safer to just submit as we intend to stay in the UK.

Many thanks for your time and advice.
:D

It is only talk, nothing set in stone or even agreed or close to being agreed or negotiated.

Note that your spouse cannot stay in the UK once the current tier 5 visa expires
in the hope for this to come to light soon. These types of changes can take a long time.

Safer to switch visa now to avoid any overstay as periods of overstay will affect future citizenship application.
