Renewing Tier 2 (General) - start date for CoS?

Hi all,

I need to renew my Tier 2 (General) visa. I'm still working for the same employer in the same job.

I work for a small organisation and the person now in charge of my sponsorship is unsure of what start date to put for issuing my new Certificate of Sponsorship.

The start date listed in my previous CoS was 1 March 2017 with an end date of 1 March 2020. But the expiry date of my BRP is 1 April 2020.

Is the correct date to put in the new CoS as my start date the 1 March 2020 or the 1 April 2020 (the date my leave expires)?

Thank you for your response. So putting 2 April doesn't count as a gap of employment technically as according to my previous CoS the end date of their sponsorship of me is March?

There is no employment gap if you are extending with the same employer
