Changing from-10-year-route-to-5-year-route

I need some help regarding a visa I am.currently on a 10 year partner route previously overstayer my visa is due to expire next month I will be looking to change this to a 5 year route I want to enquire if this is possible as I have been hearing different things from people saying if u have been granted a 10 year visa route this cannot be changed to a 5 year one if this possible that I can change my visa route which form I need to fill

Yes you can change to FLR M 5 year route if you meet the requirements
Note that your 5 year ilr clock will reset to zero and you will need 5 years on the 5 year route before you can apply for ilr.

Really? I was not aware that's possible. Based on the decisions made by UKVI, I believe the rule is clear whether on spouse route or child route, if you have overstayed, you will be given 10-yrs route to ILR. How can someone change to 5 years route?

A person can change to the 5 year route at anytime if they meet the 5 year route requirement and have a current valid visa.

Is your visa still valid as per above you stated it was to expire around March 2020?
