Naturalisation after ILR as refugee

Post by Jan07 » Wed May 27, 2020 11:40 pm

Hello all,

I hope everyone is doing well and healthy,

I’m new to the forum, I got ILR as a refugee, the ILR approval was received last year November.

1- Can I apply in the same month (November 2020)?

2- Is the kid at the age of 17 apply separately, or parent will apply for them?, is’t the same from or different procedures?

3- Is the refugee family is exempt from B1 and life in the UK, what if someone can’t speak English?

4- Which form needs to be submitted? If someone can share would appreciate it.

5- Is there any new changes in the naturalisation for refugee after Brexit?

6- Is PCN has negative impact on the application? already paid without any delays.

7- Is unemployment has any negative impact, despite worked for several years, because of Covid19 lost a job as many Brits.

8- Do we need to do biometric again as we did it last year for ILR?

Thank you in advance.

1- Can I apply in the same month (November 2020)?
You can apply if you meet the requirements once you have held ILR for the full 12 months.
2- Is the kid at the age of 17 apply separately, or parent will apply for them?, is’t the same from or different procedures?
You can add family members as applicants to your application or apply separately. There is no discount family fee, each applicant must be the stated fee.
3- Is the refugee family is exempt from B1 and life in the UK, what if someone can’t speak English?
There is no exemption for naturalisation. Each applicant over 18 must have English B1 test and liuk.
4- Which form needs to be submitted? If someone can share would appreciate it.
Adults is form AN. Children is form MN1.
5- Is there any new changes in the naturalisation for refugee after Brexit?
Brexit has nothing to do with refugees or this under the UK immigration rules ILR.
6- Is PCN has negative impact on the application? already paid without any delays.
Non-issue.
7- Is unemployment has any negative impact, despite worked for several years, because of Covid19 lost a job as many Brits.
Employment is NOT mandatory for citizenship. Simply complete the employment details you have had.
8- Do we need to do biometric again as we did it last year for ILR
Yes.

Hello again,

I hope all are healthy,

I have booked B1 for naturalisation for August, as no early dates are available, I’m wondering can I book LIUK in the meantime, if earlier date is available so I can first go with LIUK.

Any suggestions, tips and recommendations would be appropriated.

Thanks

It makes no difference which test you do first.

Hello All,

I have passed LIUK test, but I only got an email with URN number. Is there any certificate? Or just keep the email and when applying for Naturalisation as a supporting document what should be attach with application.

Is the B1 is still via video chat?

Stay safe and thanks in advance

You don't get a certificate for the English test anymore as far as I understand. You only get the reference number.

Thanks for the prompt reply,

I’m wondering there might be an option in the application to prove (LIUK) with the same reference number.

You need to complete the information the form asks for. You don't get a LIUK test pass letter anymore.

Hi Jan,
If you got your ILR last year why don't you use the LINTUk and B1 you used when you submitted your ILR application?
If you have them you can use them again for your Naturalisation application.

Only those who hold ILR who are from a commonwealth country can vote or register to vote. So it depends where you are from.

The rules for voting in local elections varies across the four nations of the UK. So, where in the UK (England, Wales, NI or Scotland) are you located?

To vote in a General Election, you must be a British, Irish or Commonwealth citizen over the age of 18 and resident in the UK on a non-visit visa. Holding ILR is irrelevant.

So an Indian or Nigerian student in the UK can vote, but a Chinese or American ILR holder can't.

Good Afternoon

1- my little one got British passport via
naturalisation route, do I also need to mention him in the naturalisation application?

2- Employment history, I have worked and got payslips and P-60, I have lost job because of this pandemic but recently started online business as a self employed, my question is how are;
A- Do I need to upload Payslips or P-60?
B- How to show self employment? I have registered with HMRC through account.

3- My son is over 17 but not turn 18, does he need a separate application or parent can apply on his behalf?

4- what’s the process these days, is there any changes due COVID-19,
A- Is UKVCAS process the same? I reckon I need to upload the app, any suggestions please.

5- Lastly general question, once the application is submitted successfully, what will normally happens i.e receive naturalisation certificate or any letter?

1) No
2) If you are currently self-employed, you will have to submit last 1 year self-assessment (if you have).
3) This is already answered above.
4) Same UKVCAS process. Check UKVCAS flash messages for updates.
5) Approval letter via email. Due to corona, ceremony invitation is sent in 3/4 months or more after approval.

1) Yes.

2) There is a question in the online form which asks you that. Declare there.

Hello All,

Does speeding ticket i.e 3 penalty points has a negative impact on the naturalisation application?

Just a question on behalf of friend,

Thanks

Depends how the speeding points were given. How were the speeding points given? FPN, court?

Thanks for the prompt reply CULLINAN.

He hasn’t yet received any letter officially, but he has said that he probably exceed just over 70/mph I mean 72-75/mph, it’s his first time no previous traffic offensive, hence he’s really worried about it,

Thanks

Ask him to pay the FPN right away and accept the points. If this FPN is taken to court and challenged - and he looses, he will have a criminal conviction in the latter case.

A FPN alone is not a criminal conviction. As long he does not have many FPN’s in a short period, he will be okay. But since, its recent and points will be endorsed on the license, he must declare the FPN. It will have no impact though.

He might get an offer to attend the speed awareness course. In this case he will avoid the points. But still declare it.
