Delay in Irish Passport after the citizenship cermoney

Post by CalvinKlien » Thu Jul 23, 2020 7:54 am

Hi All,
Please share your experience. My wife got her naturalization certificate in March ceremony and on 4th March we sent the application by passport office by express post. Today is 23rd July and she didn't received her passport yet. Anytime we call the passport office its a standard reply that they are very busy. Anyone else in the same situation?

In June they recommended to reaply for online if you choosen online, not sure have it changed:
"Coveney encouraged people to apply online, stating that it is by far the quickest way of getting your passport renewed. Those that have applied through the paper application can call the office, he said.

A member of staff will talk those members of the public through making an online application and a refund for the paper renewal will be made.

He said the passport express system has not been operating, but he hopes to get it back up and running again in the coming weeks.

If someone has applied through the passport express service, they are also encouraged to apply online and their express fee will be refunded.

The OP's wife was applying for her first passport, so the renewal notice does not apply to her. Whether she applies online or offline, she would need to send the same documents to the office by An Post regardless.

Unfortunately, nobody is picking up the mails at the moment, so her application won't be processed for now.
