Reconable Residence for Naturalization Application

Hello Everyone, My friend living in Ireland is looking for an advise on his residency calculation, on the basis of the below,

I have a stamp 4 from june 2013 to Dec 2014. Gnib refused my 2015,2016 and 2017 residency since my wife was not working and was mainly in her home country. However, my 2018, 2019, 2020 is accepted along with current year.

My question is that for passport application, will my June 2013 till dec 2014 and then jan 2018 till may 2021 (5 years) make me eligible for making passport application based on 5 years?

If i am eligible i can make an application.

Looking for an advise please.

Jun 2013 - Dec 2014 = 1 year 6 months
Jan 2018 - May 2021 = 3 years 4 months

Surely that doesn’t add up to 5 years?

Jun 2013 - Dec 2014 = 1 year 7 months
Jan 2018 - May 2021 = 3 years 5 months.

The question was will the residency making five years like this count as 5 years for Naturalisation application?

Unless he was talking about from 1 June to 31 December, and from 1 January to 31 May, the total residency will not be sufficient to make up a full 5 years.

The requirement is to have 5 years residency in the last 9 years. So yes that is okay.
