Naturalisation Application Guidance

Post by Brutes660 » Sun May 30, 2021 7:27 pm

Hi Everyone,

Apologies, I tried to find the information about these but not specifically found any.

History :
Granted Indefinite Leave to Remain: July 2018 (Family: Me, My Wife, and My son).
Eligible to apply for the Naturalisation.

I am trying to make an application for Naturalisation for myself and Registration for my son
My wife is not applying at the moment as she hasn't done the English language required for the application.

My understanding and documents:

Forms: AN for me and MN1 for my son (now 14yrs)
Life in UK test Certificate (online reference number)
Have a UK degree Certificate
Latest Self Employment statement from HMRC. + (P45 from Previous employment + letter from them)
2 referees for each of us.
Anything more to add?

Main query :
I am confused about applying together as mentioned in section 3 (1) of the MN1 guidance as it mentioned about one parent has to "have British Citizenship and the other is settled." I don't hold BC yet but applying at the same time.

Can we apply together?
Is there anything I need to take into account?

I would really appreciate any help on this. Thanks in advance.

You and your son can apply together. You can start your AN Form and create one account. You can then add your son as “Child below 18” in the same account. The form will automatically adapt to MN1 in his case.

The documents checklist at the end will let you know what documents you require.

Also read the guidance to understand the requirements.

AN:

MN1:

Thank you very much. @CULLINAN,

That's really helpful. Also, I was wondering do I have to upload every page of my native passport or just the stamped ones would be ok.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you @CULLINAN for the details.

Do you know or have an idea if my son can have his Scouts Leader as a referee? My son is in scouts for 6-7 years.
Also, do I need to make a copy of all pages (Even blank) of my passport ?

Thanks again.

Should be okay.

Ideally scan all pages covering the qualifying period only including the blank pages. But just the bio page and stamps pages for the qualifying period will do also.

I have no other sources than this forum to get the right ideas. So, I really appreciate your time and help.
Few confusions if I can get answers, please :

1. Can I start the online application and save to fill it later? If yes, then is there a time limit to complete it?
2. When applying online at first, is it just the details submission and/or all the documents needed to be uploaded at the same time?
3. What’s the next step after the application is submitted?
4. I was an employee and self-employed till last year, now I am only self-employed and on universal credit. So, what documents do I need to provide?
5. Referees’ form; there’s one on the application form AN (page no:20,21,22) and the other one is a single sheet where referees make/sign the declaration. So, is this correct that I need to hand over these 2 forms with a photo attached on both to them so that they can fill their details?

Thanks in advance.

1) Yes. You can save/edit as many times you want. Just keep logging back at least once in 4/6 weeks, if not it might get deleted.

2-3)
You get 2 months (45 working days to be exact) after submission to attend biometrics and submit documents after online application.
See steps:
british-citizenship/steps-to-follow-aft ... 14359.html

4) You will need to provide your latest self-assessment statement of account.

5) You input all required referee details in the online form before submission.
You then print the following form:
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... on_MN1.pdf
Get it signed, scan and upload with the documents.

Thank you again @CULLINAN for this, it's really helpful.

Sorry again, as I move forward with the application and something comes up again.

It's about,

"Do you have any dependants not applying with you at this time?"
(My wife is not applying at this time but for me and my son). So, I ticked "YES", however, I am confused about whether she counts as my dependant or not and what should I tick on. "YES" or "NO"?

"Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?"
I ticked "Yes", and input the appointment details when I was granted Indefinite Leave to Remain.

"Name in which you made the application"
I put it as "Indefinite Leave to Remain", dates and so on.

Do I have to list all the previous application details like the application date, fingerprint date etc?
I had around 6 applications in the past dating back to 2007 which I don't even remember the fingerprints and application date.

Thanks in advance as usual.

Hi @CULLINAN,
Good Morning,

Two last questions before submitting my application. If you don't mind.

1. Can the referees' declaration form be dated before the application submission? I haven't submitted it but already got the Referees' declaration form signed.
2. Can one person stand as a 1st referee for both me and my son (my son also has his Scouts leader as 2nd referee ?

Kind Regards
